Medical Lab Tech PRN

DescriptionWorks under the guidance of the laboratory medical director and laboratory administrative director to provide clinical laboratory testing for patients of all ages and all patient types.
Performs procedures including patient testing, operation and maintenance of clinical laboratory equipment and quality control procedures for all essential assays in the laboratory.
Uses the laboratory information system to register patients, enter test orders, result tests and report test results to providers.
Collects blood specimens from patients of all ages by venipuncture or capillary puncture.
Collects chain of custody specimens according to policy and regulations.
QualificationsoMust have knowledge of laboratory procedures and ability to perform laboratory functions in the essential areas of chemistry, coagulation, hematology, immunology, microbiology, clinical microscopy and transfusion medicine.
oMust be able to collect blood specimens and chain of custody specimens according to policy.
oMust have formal training in medical laboratory technology.
oMust have an A.
S.
degree in Medical Technology or related science or have equivalent education and experience as defined by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988.
oCertification as a medical laboratory technician preferred.
