Quality Engineer

Summary:
Primary Purpose
Directs the quality assurance program for the plant. Performs duties relating to inspection, laboratory testing, statistical process control and salvage operations. Implement, maintain and modify as appropriate the companies/plant's quality management system to improve business operating systems and meet the requirements of customer and best practice audits. Lead/assist with the corrective action of quality related problems at the plant and/or customer locations and start-up of new products/processes. Assist in troubleshooting technical problems. Drive the IFS PACsecure based product safety program and GMP program compliance.
Specific Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Abides by all Amcor's Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
Assist internal customers such as operators, maintenance, production and blow molding in maintaining quality inspection related to the collection of product data.
Communicate with and visit customers to understand the performance of our products and evaluate their production process to enhance performance.
Develop designated personnel to understand SPC and the impact it has on the production process.
Continually assess plant operations to determine priority procedures.
Responsible for the overall direction of the quality systems and product safety protocol including continuous improvement evaluation of all department personnel.
Job Specifications and Requirements:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in technical discipline or equivalent,
Five to seven years of quality assurance experience in a leadership role in a prevention based proactive manufacturing organization.
Excellent working knowledge of performance measurement and monitoring methods is required.
Experience with ISO 9000/QS 9000 quality systems, Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), IFS PACsecure, AIBI GMP Standards and audit activity.
Multi-cavity/multi-station injection/blow-molding experience
American Society for Quality (ASQ), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and/or Certified Quality Manager (CQM).
Profession Accreditation in Quality Engineering and Systems is strongly preferred.
